Crossing Spiritual Rivers of Life
Awakening to Truth – Becoming Spiritually Aware
It is extremely symbolic that we have begun our journey at Nagambie Lakes this year. Let me explain; the caravan park where we are staying, is bounded on one side by the Goulburn river, and on the other side is the Nagambie Lake. I am absolutely loving spending time beside each, and quietly wandering the paths that meander their edges. The image you see to the left is one I took of a water bird wading carefully in the beautiful shallow waters of the lake.
In spiritual literature, you will often read of rivers or lakes to be crossed during the journeys of those following a spiritual path –awakening to Truth. Metaphysically the crossing of the river symbolises the individual path that one travels from a consciousness entrenched in matter, to a consciousness filled with the light of Truth. This symbolism is most often about crossing the river or lake, rather than about travelling upstream, downstream, or circumnavigating the lake.
I am sure that we all understand how difficult it can be crossing the rivers of life. Regardless of how deep or how wide, we are still confronted with the unknown factors of what lies in wait beneath the waters we have to traverse. These obstacles symbolise our fears, anxieties, old beliefs that no longer serve, or emotions that often overtake us in the course of living in a material world.
So, this begs the question: how can we ensure a safe and successful crossing? Well, if God is the only power (Omnipotent) and we are individual God being, then there is absolutely nothing to fear – there never was, and never will be.
A realisation of this truth is all that is needed!
