Unearthing the Root of Spiritual Awareness
Spiritual Growth – Spiritual Awakening
A few days ago, I took a photo of these trees having had all their roots exposed by high levels of water from a nearby lake which had washed away the soil. The symbolism found within this image is very powerful for those walking a spiritual path.
On one hand, at the physical level, we could see it as getting to the root of a problem when life is full of anxiety, or frustration, or fear. It could symbolise getting to the root of that problem by sitting with it, pondering it, allowing answers to bubble up within us. By taking the time to sit with whatever is troubling us, and no longer shying away from what is happening, we give ourselves the opportunity to discover the ‘why’. By allowing the answers to rise from within, we uncover the hidden cause—the why behind the experience—and from there, we gain clarity on how to move forward. Uncovering the hidden cause then gives us the opportunity to choose or decide how we’re going to deal with it or overcome it.
This also leads perfectly to a deeper symbolism within this image, and that is exposing or taking us back to what is spiritually true in our lives. Often, we deal with the first symbolism but gloss over what is the deeper truth. We just can’t see it because we have aqcovered it over with the ‘busyness’ of life or every excuse under the sun. But if we really want to unearth what is happening, then we must go within to the root of all truth; of what is reality, what has always been reality, and what will always and forever be reality. As we expose these inner roots, we discover what has always been present: the I AM. The foundation of all teaching, all awareness, all existence – I AM.
