A Pathway to Spiritual Awakening

Spiritual Awakening is often about asking the right questions of self. So, following last week’s blog, I thought I would go into my ‘sunset contemplation’ in a little more detail by giving a suggestion regarding the how – starting with the question, ‘Have I loved today?’

Loving family and friends is a very simple and easy thing to do. When I talk about ‘having loved today’, I am talking about loving those we encounter through our 5 senses and may be considered by the majority of society as unlovable. Can we love these people? Can we love the ones in most need of love and yet appear to be unlovable? What about those who have hit hard times and have lost their way? Then there are those who just don’t fit into our personal category of being lovable people. The most difficult people to love are those who have hurt us in some way. Can we forgive them and love them regardless of the hurt?

The way we can make it possible to love any and all of the above is by recognising that each and every person that we meet is a child of this Universe, and we are all part of this Universal family. Also, by recognising that we are all one and the same. We might be travelling very different paths to those we meet, but that doesn’t mean we can’t love them. They are our brothers and sisters in God’s family.

God loves all regardless of where we are on our journey to awakening. God’s love is infinite and God’s rain falls equally on the just and the unjust. It is all-embracing and eternal. The only way that we can have love flow into our lives in greater abundance is by giving love. This includes loving those that society deems unlovable! If we can lose the judgement and look beyond the appearances, that’s when we truly begin to love.
