Sunset reflection across Lake Hume – Geraldine Teggelove

Symbol of divine prayer and presence

Becoming a true reflection of God takes time and patience. Every evening at Lake Hume I was presented with yet another exquisite reflection of the sky across the waters – the lake’s very own silent prayer On this occasion, the God sketched in colours of love and peace. A prayer of gratitude filled my heart.

Question: Jesus, I have just been reading about the nature of prayer, and that prayers are most effective when filled with love, confidence and assurance. Is this what I bring to God as I pray?

Jesus: Yes – Look at the reflection before you. Look at the beauty within it.

G. It is stunning!

Jesus. Now think about the love God has for you in bringing that reflection to you. The question is, can you reflect that love back to God?

G. I certainly can!

Jesus. So, reflect that love. Confidence is looking at the reflection and knowing that it is God who has created it. Do you accept that?

G. Yes, I do.

Jesus. The confidence is in knowing truth. Not only did God create this beautiful image for you, but God is present within that image. Every part of it! So Geraldine, if you stood by the water and it reflected you, you could also rest confidently in the knowledge that God is also in the reflection of you.

G. What about the assurance?

Jesus: This is about you knowing that God is presenting this beautiful reflection because He wants to give you the Kingdom. Do you truly believe that this is what God wishes to give to you?

G. I know it, but I’m not sure that I’m ‘living’ it just yet.

Jesus. Look back at the reflection. If you are a true reflection of God, and God is loving, giving, compassionate, and kind, the question then becomes, can you accept that love, can you accept that compassion, and can you accept that kindness?

G. I’m not perfect at it just yet, but every time I look at a reflection I will think of this and question myself as to whether or not I am truly reflecting God. When I become that true reflection, I can then offer my prayers to God with the assurance of knowing that I’m doing my absolute best.

Jesus. Always reflect Truth because as you often love to say, ‘know the Truth and the Truth will set you free’ – by reflecting Truth you are reflecting God!
