Pelicans and Peace in Tumby Bay
As we went for an evening stroll along the pier at a beautiful little fishing town called Tumby Bay in Sth Australia, we couldn’t help but notice the pelicans sitting on the lamp posts dotted along the wooden planks. It certainly brought a smile to our faces and we both had a chuckle at how comfortable they looked as they dozed in the last of the evening sun. The pelicans reminded me of how I loved the words that Jesus said, “May my peace arise and be fulfilled within you”.
Trust, Light, and Inner Peace
The pelicans were certainly allowing that peace arise and were not at all perturbed by visitors strolling along the pier. It was like we had these beautiful birds watching over the land and water below and reminding all that there is always time for rest and relaxion.
Question: Jesus, how do I have this peace arise in me?
Jesus: Let’s first look at the Pelicans resting on the lampposts. Yes, you had quite a chuckle at this sight, but take a closer look! Ask yourself these questions…
Did the Pelicans look afraid? Did the Pelicans concern themselves with what was going on around them? Did the Pelicans trust that they could sit there and rest? Did they look at peace?
G: They had no concern for what was going on beneath them, and yes, they certainly looked very much at peace with themselves and the world around them. And yes, from the way they sat there and dozed, they obviously felt complete and utter trust!
Jesus: Trust is the first step in finding peace and allowing it to arise within you. Total trust in your father’s guidance. Total trust in God spirit within you. Work with trust until it becomes a knowing.
G: how do I do that?
Jesus: Follow the guidance of the Pelican. What were they sitting on? They are resting on a lamp post-something that is light filled. You are light filled. Sit quietly within your light and trust the light filled guidance given. This guidance always brings peace.
The Pelican is also there to help you see the joy in life. The joy that is felt when you act on an unexpected idea. Wherever you find peace you will always find joy. Peace and joy will arise within you as you come to know the light that is you. Trust this knowing above all else. Always look to nature. Find the peace within the storm, find the peace within the crashing waves against the rocks, find the peace within the scorching heat of the sun. When you can find the peace within all things, you have found God.
