Spiritual awakening in Divine Stillness
We came upon this beautiful stone labyrinth not long before sunset. The glorious hues of gold, orange, and red of the sun seemed to make the stones come alive as each one shone its brilliance to the world. I spent what was left of the evening light winding my way along the narrow pathways in search of a way into the mound of rocks which took centre stage. Many times, I was forced to retrace my steps and try again until finally I reached my destination just as the sun was setting. Mother Nature was certainly working her magic in both timing and metaphor.
Question: What is the learning here Jesus?
Jesus: Humans tend to get caught up in time. There is either too much or too little depending on the moment. But in that one simple word, ‘moment”, lies the key to reaching the centre of everything. In human terms, each moment can be one of decision, indecision, contemplation, confusion, frustration, patience, or simply stillness.
Together, all of these create the labyrinth of a lifetime. Many fail to reach the centre of the labyrinth, but it is within the centre that you finally reach that prayerful moment of stillness. It is within that sacred stillness that your true path stretches out before you. Patience and faith are the essential ingredients to finding the stillness.
G: I think I need to work on my patience Jesus!
Jesus: There are always sufficient ‘moments’ for the journey to unfold … there is never the need to rush. Remember, trying to ‘make things happen’ is resistance which means you are slowing down the process of finding that sacred moment.
