Spiritual Awareness Spiritual Illumination

A new beginning can take place at any moment in time, but we still all see the start of a new year as the perfect time to set new goals for ourselves. We question every facet of our lives to see what needs to change for the better. This usually involves questioning how we can finally let go of what may be

limiting or stopping us from moving forward into better ways of doing things. And so, as the custom goes, we sit and write out copious lists of what needs to go, and what we are going to do to enhance all aspects of our lives. Sometimes this works, but sadly, most times it fails!Maybe it is time to have a complete change of direction by focusing on spiritual growth rather than physical goals. Growing spiritual awareness and understanding always brings with it wonderful and unexpected outcomes. Far more than any physical goal can ever achieve.

Let’s go back a step and, as I always love to do, learn from Mother nature, beginning with the humble seed. Grass seeds are produced in abundance. Some of these flourish and some die due to a lack of nourishment and nurture. The ones that survive and thrive are those that have fallen onto fertile ground, have been watered by the rain, and are in a space where the sunshine can bring warmth and goodness to the roots and leaves.

Now, what if we were to plant seeds within ourselves. Seeds such as those of love, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. We may also like to plant seeds of service to others, giving from our purse or from our heart, or simply setting aside a little time each day to say a prayer for anyone in need. As you embed these seeds within your being and nurture them with love and trust, they will each sprout shoots of new awareness and spiritual understanding. These in turn will produce a beautiful and bountiful harvest for you to enjoy.
